Complete the Research Proposal Assessment Form, and include the Risk Assessment Forms, Consent Forms, Information Sheets for Participants, plus a Health Questionnaire or Par-Q (whichever is more appropriate).
Present your proposal according to the sections required on the Research Proposal Assessment Form
Present your work in Arial 11-point font, with 1.5 line spacing (which is the default setting in the form); include in-text citations and an accompanying reference list. Referencing takes place in the standard University of Salford style – APA 6th (Harvard) style. More information on referencing your work can be found here.

On successful completion of this assessment, you will be able to:
Knowledge and Understanding
Appraise research design and its application to sport, exercise, health and rehabilitation; Evaluate the potential advantages and disadvantages of different research methodologies
Consolidate and demonstrate independence in accessing and searching information resources; Manage search results and confirm knowledge of referencing.
Assess the ethical rationale of research methodology.
Identify appropriate statistical techniques to help plan and implement research in sport, exercise, health and rehabilitation settings.
Develop a research proposal based on a suitable topic area to allow scientific investigation of an observation, hypothesis or question
Transferable Skills and other Attributes
Managing own Learning – students are given specific topics as directed study.
IT skills – students have the opportunity for practice using technical equipment and software in ISD (e.g. library searches and data analysis)
Problem Solving – students are encouraged to develop a problem-solving approach through the application of theoretical knowledge in formulating their research proposal.
Communication Skills – students continue to learn and practice written communication techniques, and these skills form part of their assessment.
Numeracy – students will need to be aware of the relevant statistics to be applied to their research project

To provide a broad understanding of research design and analysis to allow students to critically appraise evidence and to plan their own research
Word count/ duration (if applicable)
There is a Word Count (Limit) of 3000 words to this assignment; your work will not be marked beyond this limit once it is reached. You must state the number of words used at the end of your Proposal.
The Questions within the form, plus any Tables, figures and reference list are not included in the word count. It is the content that you insert into the form (excluding Appendices for Recruitment Posters, Information Sheets, Health Questionnaires, Consent Forms, Data Protection Sheets) plus in-text citations that DO count towards your word count.
Feedback arrangements
You can expect to receive feedback within 3 working weeks of the assignment submission deadline. There will be general feedback available with your grade and more specific feedback on your submission available on Turnitin.
If you wish to gain formative feedback on your assignment prior to submission you should email your allocated Supervisor. Formative feedback will be not be provided on any requests later than 14 days prior to the submission deadline (1st March 2021).

Reassessment
If you fail your assessment, and are eligible for reassessment, you will need to resubmit in the August exam period, a specific date for this will be made available nearer the time. Students should be aware that there is no late submission period at reassessment (this includes those students who have an accepted PMC request from a previous attempt).
