How will an MBA degree help in reaching your goals? (650 words)
If I have to describe myself in one word, then the word would be receptive. From early childhood, I was open to others’ opinions even if their views clashed with my opinions. I firmly believe that being receptive is the first step towards learning.As a Project Head in the ‘National Expansion Project’ of an NGO – ‘Leaders for Tomorrow Organisation’, my role was to mentor and empower outstation students at Delhi University to organise social events in their hometowns. This taught me how to make people with diverse opinions and values to work together as a team. With the assistance of my ambassadors, I was able to effectively organise events in Basti, Faridabad, Ranchi, Patna, and several other cities. I received the Leader of the Month (November) Award for my outstanding performance.I also served as a Joint Cultural Secretary and a Treasurer of the Student Council of Shaheed Rajguru College, Delhi University. Amongst various responsibilities, we organised an event with a budget of 10,00,000+ wherein I designed various marketing campaigns that helped us increase the event’s overall footfall by 5,000+ people. This experience piqued my curiosity in the subject of marketing.As an Intern at a marketing firm, Festinator, I have been exposed to various marketing dimensions such as Performance Based Marketing, Brand Management, and Influencer Marketing. I worked for brands such as Mama Earth, Sebamed, Sleepy Owl Coffee, and many others throughout my 6-month internship.As a Social Media Manager at an Education based Start-Up, StudyBUZZ Education, I used to develop social media strategy to create visibility & engagement with current or potential audience across social channels. In addition, I generated 1000+ creatives, blogs, posts, and videos for social media platforms, and worked with teams on animated and introductory videos for 5+ social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, etc. After 2 years, I began working as a freelancer in video editing and social media management to have a thorough understanding of the intricacies of digital marketing. During my 6-month journey.

I worked on 3+ social media management projects and edited 250+ videos. I learnt the importance of marketing and advertising in influencing people’s view. I realised the hold that marketing and brands have on consumers. To become a responsible manager and make a positive difference in people’s lives, I realised the need to learn new-age technology, design thinking and data analytics along with core business strategies. Olivier Francois, CMO of FCA Group, quoted “We want to be the winner of each few days of messaging not by winning market share necessarily but by winning hearts and minds” and I aspire to follow this strategy by understanding the customers’ wants and needs in terms of priorities related to culture, meaning, and things like social justice, sustainability, diversity, women’s leadership, family connectedness, and eco-friendliness.

I want to become a winner by winning the hearts and minds of consumersI believe that the legacy of BITS will help me in laying a strong foundation for becoming a responsible business leader of tomorrow.ESSAY 2: Tell us about a time when you learnt something completely new, your experience during that journey, what you learnt from it and how you applied this new learning?During my second year at SkillBUZZ Trainings, I was provided with an opportunity to teach industry-ready skills to students from different backgrounds. I was given the task of designing and curating the Advance Excel and VBA & Macros course. For two reasons, I was unsure about this offer. To begin with, I was not an expert in the course I was supposed to create. Second, I had no prior expertise with skill-based training or course design. But Richard Branson has rightly said “If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it. Say yes – then learn how to do it later!”I believed in myself and seized the opportunity. Through numerous platforms and books, I began learning Advance Excel, VBA & Macros. I exposed myself to the content of various Excel MVPs to learn their teaching and training methodology. Throughout this journey, I had many doubts about myself, including whether I was qualified to teach skill-based courses. I took a leap of faith and made a list of the skills I’d need to build the best Advance Excel Course.The experience of learning Excel changed my outlook toward Excel. Although I had some experience with Excel in the past, I had no clue the extent to which it might be used. I learned how to visualize, manipulate, and assess data, as well as how to create spreadsheets that better organize data and provide information. By developing different teaching strategies for different tools, the teaching experience honed my communication skills and creative thinking abilities. Understanding students’ universe and putting myself in their shoes taught me that learning is a mutual task and a collaborative effort. This experience taught me that it is critical to continue to learn and polish your skillset in order to advance in your career.
