8. Shelley’s Frankenstein can be read as a novel about discoveries, which are in some ways both successful and a failure. With reference to two characters, explain what their discoveries were, and how these discoveries where both successful and a failure.
9. In Volume 3, Chapter 7, we read: “The die is cast; I have consented to return if we are not destroyed. Thus are my hopes blasted by cowardice and indecision; I come back ignorant and disappointed. It requires more philosophy than I possess to bear this injustice with patience.” Analyse Walton’s decision to return his ship back towards home.
