The term wicked social problem (WSP) is a social or cultural illness that is hard or intolerable to resolve because of its complex and interconnected nature. The wicked problems lack lucidity in both aims and solutions, besides being subjected to real-world restrictions that can hinder risk-free efforts to find a solution (Peters & Tarpey, 2019). In 1973, project theorists Horst Rittel and Melvin Webber presented the term “wicked social problem” to draw attention to complexities and tests of addressing planning and social policy difficulties (Sinclair et al., 2019). The wicked problems of development lack clarity on both aims and solutions. It was seen from the challenges of articulation and internal logic, which were subject to real-world limitations that stop manifold and risk-free efforts in solving (Peters & Tarpey, 2019). Rittel and Webber stated that the wicked issues have important characteristics such as definitive formulation and no solution to be false or true as well there is no proper solution to the issues.
In the above scenario, it was seen that 13 years old Nasif is suffering from Haemophilia. Due to his health issues, Nasif feels bad due to his mother hand to work like mowing, outside works and jobs that he thinks he must do. This issue is considered as a WSF as this issue cannot be resolved. Asif feels that he is becoming a burden for this mother. This type of perception varies from one person to another, and it cannot be resolved (McMillan & Overall, 2016). It is away from human thinks or details with the issue. Nasif feels his mother hand work hard to fulfil all his financial budget of his education and medical treatment. Nasif must accept the fact that haemophilia cannot be cured. He had to go through the treatment process, and he cannot take any workload on him. In the case of Nasif case, it can be understood that the financial basis for his family was not much strong.
Another WSF identified in the Nasif case is taking an injection and sharps container to school. He got teased in school as a ‘drug addict’, and drug addiction is against religion. It is making him insecure, and he feels hurt. The concept of drug addiction varies from one community to another. Some circumstances can be an action in a community, and on the other hand, it can be against religion (Gold et al., 2018). It is considered a WSF example as the event performed unknowingly over a religious event. It is not acceptable to conduct teasing or bullying in school, and the school kids who acted did not have any information if that was going against Nasif religion. Girschik (2016)mentioned that the communication outlines public perception, which was individual heuristics in authority ways. The context of wicked social problems, inherent to nature that there was no right answer and no proper answer to the feelings and actions in this case.
This intervention process requires local government and health care support as a stakeholder. The support from the local government is given by providing a stable job to Nasif’s mother.
The intervention activity to be undertaken are as follows: In this case, Nasif mother stable Job would save from working outside constantly and can be easy for her to bear all the cost. The stable Job would make her relax from hard labour. Even the stable Job or any sitting job would help Nasif’s mother earn comparatively more to support him and house easily. On the other hand, the stakeholder role as local government is also essential so that looking at the financial status of Nasif and his family where his mother is only earning members can support the medical cost or provide subsidy for his medical cost. This can make Nasif feel relaxed that pressure on his mother is reduced. The health healthcare people can also be taken under consideration by stakeholders in this case, as they can visit Nasif for his treatment process at home (Duffy et al., 2017). The intervention also includes building moral support and making communicating with Nasif. It is considered a wicked issue as multidimensional, complex, changeable and unclear, causing a rise in generative mechanism for this WSF. The health care people can visit him and generate effective communication and generate moral confidence in him so that he starts accepting the situation they are going through (Alford & Head, 2017; Sinclair et al., 2019). It can be the case that Nasif loves his mother, and hence he becomes over concerned for his mother, but as a health professional, it is essential to make Nasif understand that whatever things are being been for his good.
