Task 1: Skills Activity

Objective: To provide you with an opportunity to show you have the required skills for this unit.
This activity will enable you to demonstrate the following skills:
Reading
Writing
Oral communication
Interact with others
Get the work done
Answer the activity in as much detail as possible, considering requirements of Manager Networks. The relevant information has been provided in Appendix ‘Case Study – Manager Networks’, ‘Project Management Policy and Procedures’ and ‘Conference Program’.
You must organise and plan stakeholder engagement for a program as per details provided in the case study. You will need to interact with the relevant stakeholders to discuss the program and to develop working relationships.
You will need to:
Read and assess program information to evaluate needs and to determine stakeholder involvement (for example, who will need to be involved, when they may need to be involved and how to go about this)
Speak and communicate with stakeholders to agree on communication approaches (this must include three or more different types of stakeholders)
Speak and communicate with stakeholders to explain and discuss the program, and the details that are relevant to their needs
Clarify information with stakeholders and discuss their involvement (including confirming their interests, needs and expectations)
Build effective working relationships through ongoing stakeholder engagement in your planning of the program, i.e., communications should be carried out over several occasions
Develop program plans in writing that are flexible and recognise different stakeholders and their competing demands
Identify and organise stakeholder engagement activities, including developing linkages to enhance knowledge sharing and commitment.

Task 2: Knowledge Activity

Objective: To provide you with an opportunity to show you have the required knowledge for this unit.
Answer each question in as much detail as possible, considering Manager Networks requirements provided in previous task.
Explain what engagement models are and state four benefits of using these and how they should be applied in organisations.
Identify how the case study organisation (or an example organisation) conducts its stakeholder engagement and provide a comparison method which could be used.
From your own thinking, identify two things that communication enables you to do.
From your own thinking, provide three examples of both media and methods of communication.
Provide an explanation of the types and roles of program stakeholders at Manager Networks (or an example organisation).

Task 3: Performance Activity

Objective: To provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate the required performance elements for this unit.
This activity will enable you to demonstrate the following performance evidence:
Apply analytical skills to identify and interpret stakeholder interests and expectations
Incorporate inclusive integration skills
Apply workplace communication skills to work with stakeholders effectively
Provide workplace based examples of stakeholder communications, both formal and informal
Demonstrate use of different communication approaches in different stakeholder contexts
Answer the activity in as much detail as possible, considering requirements of Manager Networks. The relevant information has been provided in Appendix ‘Case Study – Manager Networks’, ‘Project Management Policy and Procedures’ and ‘Conference Program’.
For three stakeholder types, identify and their interests and expectations for the program, you will need to engage in communications to determine these needs.
This should include using communication skills such as:
Plain English and clear use of language and grammar
Active listening and questioning skills
Open and friendly body language to invite positive face-to-face communications.
In relation to question one, engage in three formal workplace communications and two informal workplace communications to determine these needs. You must demonstrate your use of different communication approaches in different communication contexts (for example, by telephone, in person or a written message).
You must provide documented evidence for each one (formal and informal). This may be to arrange meetings, to engage in a communication or communications made in passing which are relevant to determining stakeholder needs.
You should also use integration skills to ensure stakeholders are included and able to participate in communications.
This may include:
Providing aids and assistance to enable communications to happen
Ensuring information is appropriately constructed to aid understanding
Arranging communications according to stakeholder diaries and/or competing demands.
From your communications and stakeholder engagement, analyse the information you have received and interpret each stakeholder’s interests and expectations. You should write this down as evidence of completion.
